The Hunter Presbytery is the over-arching regional council of the Uniting Church in the Hunter region of NSW.  The Presbytery is formed by representatives (ministry agents and lay people) of some 30 Congregations within the Hunter region.

A Synod is the state council of the Uniting Church. The word ‘Synod’ also describes the regular meeting of representatives of the state-wide Uniting Church.  Synod meets every 18 months when Uniting Church representatives state-wide gather to consider the work of the church.

The Assembly is the national council of the Uniting Church in Australia and has responsibility in matters of doctrine, worship, government and discipline which sets national policy and promotes the Church's mission in the world.
